Dubai's fascinating history traces back to 1587, when Gaspero Balbi, a Venetian pearl merchant, witnessed the thriving pearling industry. The artwork was illustrated for a coffee table book commissioned by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington, DC.
